(VERY) Early Access to ReadyGSM for Windows

Here you can get some details about VERY early access. To allow more people to give VERY early feedback, we are suspending the purchase requirement until December 31, 2024. You can download the app at no charge and use it until December 31, 2024. Please send us your feedback at support@readygsm.com and let us know what you like, don’t like, need and want!

How to download and install

You can download the installer from the link below. The downloaded file is an installer that will install the program and setup the app icon in your start menu.

VERY Early Access Description

This VERY Early Access version allows for quickly setting up and starting game servers for the game Ark: Survival Ascended and Ark: Survival Evolved because the developers of ReadyGSM happened to be interested in those games. More games can be supported in the future, so let us know what games you’d like to see support for.

This app automatically creates a server cluster for a particular game so that more than one server can be ran at the same time. For some games, this allows the players to transfer between the servers.

Basic Setup Steps

Install the application and launch.

Add the game, in this case Ark: Survival Ascended or Ark: Survival Evolved, which creates a cluster.

Add one or more servers to this cluster.

Give the servers a name and choose the map name you wish to use.

Click start to install and launch all configured servers.

NOTE: The first start of the servers takes a while because the server is being downloaded and installed. The app does not provide much monitoring yet of this process. You can see basic computer activity in the system Task Manager to help give some feedback about overall activity.

Supported Games

This VERY Early Access version only supports Ark: Survival Ascended and Ark: Survival Evolved. More games will be added in the future. Let us know what games you’d like supported.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I start servers?

Once you have configured the servers, click the Start button to start all servers.

How do I stop servers?

Once you have started the servers, you will see a Stop button available in the toolbar. Review the individual game server console windows to make sure they have all completely started up properly. You can click the Stop button in ReadyGSM to request the servers to all shut down. This connects to the server via the Remote Console (RCON) and issues the necessary command to shut down. You can then watch as each of the servers are closed. Letting them close on their own can help to reduce data corruption, so it is best. If ReadyGSM appears to have finished stopping them, but they take more than 60 seconds to quit, you may need to quit them manually.

How do I change the server settings?

There are at least two sets of settings to change: configuration in ReadyGSM and the server configuration itself. Whichever settings you change, be sure the server is not running while you make the changes.

ReadyGSM allows for settings such as the server and admin password, as well as what mods should be installed with the server. For game-specific settings, you’ll need to still edit the game configuration files. In later versions of ReadyGSM, the app will help you with this too.

To edit the game server configuration, make sure the game is not running, then choose the “Details” button in ReadyGSM for the server you want to configure. In the server details window, click on the “Show Folder” button to open the folder for that server. Navigate the folder structure to find the configuraiton files you want to modify. Some servers will also have some important files noticed by ReadyGSM and you can quickly get to those files by using the “Important Files” button in the server details window. That will open up to the correct folder where that file can be found, creating an empty file if necessary.

How do I determine what ports to unlock?

You need to unlock some ports on your computer and some ports in your network router in order to allow outside (public) access to your running server. In future versions, ReadyGSM will provide you with port ranges that are being used. For now, since you are only able to setup Ark: Survival Ascended servers, we can default to opening their default port ranges, which are being used.

UDP: 7777-7800 (one port for each server you run)

UDP: 27015-27019 (one port for each server you run)

TCP: 27020-27030 (one port for each server you run)

You can also use the Task Manager and Resource Monitor to help identify what programs are running and what ports they are using.  See this article about Resource Monitor on Windows.

You can learn more about how dedicated server setup is done for Ark: Survival Ascended.

For help opening up the ports on your network, see PortForward.com

How do I setup which mods are being used?

In ReadyGSM, you can setup a list of mods by entering the mod number in a comma-separated list. Be sure there are no extra spaces or characters. Obtain the mod number from the mod details page which you can search for here. The mod id is shown on the details page of the mod under the label “Project ID” on the right-side panel.

By adding a mod to the cluster, all servers in the cluster will use that mod. If you want to add a mod to just a single server, such as a mod map, you add that mod id to only that server details window.

How many servers can I run?

ReadyGSM does not put any limits on the number of clusters or servers you run on the same machine. The configuration of your server machine, such as processor power and memory (RAM) and storage (disk) will determine how many servers you can practically run. In our testing, we have been able to easily run 5 servers with different maps for a small group of players on an old 2019 laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 64 gb of ram and 1 TB disk space. Your mileage may vary.
